GREETINGS  TBDTDV!

(That is, To Be Determined True Dungeon Volunteers!)

This is Jean Monfort – the Volunteer Coordinator for True Dungeon.  The start of new year brings Gen Con Indy a whole lot closer. We've passed the halfway mark to this year's convention, and True Dungeon is already in full swing. Jeff's been using his tricked-out DM brain to develop a whole new set of modules and adventures for this year's crowd, which is predicted to top all previous attendance records!

That is why we need you! Volunteers make up the backbone, ribcage, and basic skeletal structure of the True Dungeon experience. Without volunteers, there would be no coaches, no dungeon masters, and fewer monsters wandering the halls of the TD world.  We would quite simply not exist.  The response so far has been good with returning veterans, as well as some new faces!

PERKS OF VOLUNTEERING!

Because we respect our volunteers, True Dungeon offers one of the best swag packages at Gen Con Indy. For those of you who are new to our group, or for volunteers who need a refresher, I'd like to go over the perks of volunteering for True Dungeon:

One-Shift (around 7-9 hours): Get a limited-edition, volunteer-only Rare Treasure Token

Part-time (16-19 hours Thursday-Sunday): Get a limited-edition, volunteer-only, Rare Treasure Token, a free Gen Con badge and True Dungeon T-shirt! Most Part-Time Volunteers work a total of two 7-hour shifts, Thursday through Sunday (plus training on Wednesday from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm).

Full-time (29 hours Wednesday-Sunday): Get a limited-edition, volunteer-only, ULTRA RARE Treasure Token a free Gen Con badge, one free True Dungeon T-shirt, and a spot in a FREE Marriott/Hyatt hotel room. Most Full-Time volunteers work one 7-hour shift each day (Thursday through Saturday), and one 5 hour shift on Sunday (plus training on Wednesday from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm).

Local Installation Group (Monday Noon to 6:00pm, Tuesday 9am to 6pm, Wednesday 9am to 6pm, Sunday Noon to 5pm - Lunch provided Tuesday/Wednesday): Get a limited-edition volunteer-only ULTRA RARE Treasure Token, a free Gen Con badge and True Dungeon T-shirt! You MUST be a local Indy gamer to be invited into this pool of volunteers.

NEW FOR THIS YEAR:

Last year saw some pretty big changes in the volunteer set-up (simplifying shifts, more breaks, etc.) Based on feedback from 2012 volunteers, we have made a few more changes to help make the experience even better for you while working the floor. These new on-shift improvements include:

- More anti-fatigue mats for some standing volunteers

- More tall stools and chairs for some standing volunteers

- More flexibility with schedule selection - this year you can put in a request for specific shifts on the different days, allowing customization of your schedule around the convention (keep in mind that I will do my best to see your requests are met within reason).

- New Coaching Room Configuration:  Coaches can now remain seated for most of their time volunteering.

- Certification and Stipend: For Dungeon Masters and Coaches who complete our online certification course in their fields before July 1, 2013, they will receive a small stipend based on their time commitment. This is for CERTIFIED DMs and COACHES only! If you do not complete the program, you'll have to settle for all the other amazing perks we offer!

It takes a village to make a dungeon...

True Dungeon continues to grow each year at Gen Con. In 2003, we started as a small dungeon in a ballroom, then grew to a jam-packed larger ballroom. Now, we have an entire 45,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall to create a unique interactive experience for gamers that they cannot find anywhere else. We strive to immerse gamers in a fantasy world where they can join a team and lose themselves in an epic adventure.  But to do this, we need your help. I want to personally invite you to join us. Help us create an experience unlike any other in the convention scene!
